Attention all DIYers, gardeners, and lovers of nature!  Here is a class for you! Learn how to create your very own herbal medicines from scratch! Many plants that are considered weeds and can be commonly found in your backyard have medicinal applications. You will learn what tools are needed to make these medicines at home and will learn the difference between several herbal preparations; such as infusions, decoctions, tinctures, oils, and glycerites… OH MY!  There are many different ways to help you customize your herbal experience.

Previous classes have discussed the uses and applications of: chaparral, vitex, cereus cactus, olive leaf, globe mallow, goat thorn and more. There will be a seasonal tincture, glycerite or salve being created during the workshop. You will learn about 3 different herbs and what parts of the plant are beneficial.  You will also learn how to add herbal medicine to your foods, for acute illness, and chronic conditions! With this class you will participate in making a tincture or salve and will walk away with a 2 oz. sample (retail value over $30.00) to take home.

3:00PM – ADVANCED GOAT CARE

Do you raise goats and want to know how to manage their ongoing care? This class is an open forum for advanced knowledge of goat healthcare. Topics discussed include: basic anatomy, vitals, and herbal remedies for prevention of more common ailments: such as intestinal parasites, bloat, and mastitis. There will be live demonstrations of hoof trimming & vaccinations. A mock demo of disbudding will also be performed.
