More About Our Company

Native to Virginia, Laura & Dr. Dave returned to their home state as functional herbalist and naturopathic physician. After a decade of dreaming, their farm name and mantra Wish We Had Acres came to fruition in the village of Elliston. They now live as land stewards on a conservation easement large enough for the adventures of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh. They are back in the heart of the blue ridge mountains of Virginia with their family of goats, turning grass into soap & weeds into remedies. With any luck, this will be a bountiful year for the Paw Paw trees, apple trees, fungi and other nourishing edible wild foods.

Inspired by family with sensitive skin… our soap was born. Goat’s milk is naturally high in vitamins and minerals: Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Protein, Zinc, Calcium, Vitamins A, B-6, C, D, E, B-12. Each bar offers more than one full ounce of our farm raised goat milk. On our farmstead, waste is a resource, so we transform leftover bits (of soap) into laundry soap. We grow and wild craft many of our own herbs, and turn them into medicine for your well-being. We care about what’s put in and on the body, and connect to our environment through food & medicine.

Find our hand crafted goat milk soaps, natural body care products and herbal apothecary in our Farm Shop available online and at area retail locations. We offer shipping nationally through our online store. Follow us on Facebook for pop up events near you or schedule an appointment to connect with us about your personal needs.

We are excited to bring back farm tours by appointment and a new schedule of classes beginning spring 2020. Classes are beginner friendly and cover a variety of topics including how to milk a goat, basic cheese making, goat milk soap workshops, how to make kombucha, basic medicine making, foraging, plant walks, and more.

Join our newsletter (sent quarterly or less frequently) or follow us on social media to stay informed of tours, pop up events and other farm classes.

When not out to pasture, the goats reside in community backyards for weed abatement and make regular public appearances for goat yoga. Our goats have a busy social calendar and would love to attend your private event. Contact us for details.

Dr. Dave is a full time Naturopathic physician. His practice is located in Plaza Midwood at Advent Co-Working Space and in Roanoke at The Haven on 5th. Dr. Dave offers community talks on a variety of natural approaches to wellness and medicine making. Tune in for your weekly Wellness Wednesday tips at the 4’o’clock hour on 102.5 The Mountain.
