Welcome baby Eclipse!
This week at the farm, our lovely Luna gave birth to a healthy baby boy Monday morning. With help from his surrogate mom Auryn, little Eclipse got cleaned up. Within minutes, he gained the strength and confidence to start wobbling around the barn.

Dr. Dave and Laura have been keeping a close eye on him, making sure he’s healthy and handling him regularly so he’s extra people friendly.  I got to hold him the day he was born, and I am not exaggerating when I say it was exhilarating. Holding him is like holding a tiny kitten with long, hooved legs. He  makes high pitch squeaky ga-a-a-ah noises. He’s very cuddly and docile, and had an impressive collection of sweaters. Auryn will continue to keep a close eye on him. She sleeps with Eclipse and Luna at night and keeps an eye out for predators.

Luna will continue to nurse Eclipse full time for 6 weeks, at which time Laura and Dave will start milking her. They will use her highly nutritious milk to drink, and they will use any surplus to make soap.
If you would like to meet this little heartthrob, he may be making appearances at upcoming farmers’ markets. Stay tuned for updates!
